Sailor has just released a series of Arita porcelain fountain pens. There are 4 designs in KORANSHA models and the remaining 4 designs in Gen-Emon models. This model is the Sailor Arita Special Edition 400th Anniversary Koransha Venetian Red Ranka Fountain Pen. KORANSHA have re-created the red of Venetian glass from Italy with their original porcelain. Orchids are blooming on the pen.Arita ware (Arita-yaki) refers to porcelain made in the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture. It is one of the most famous porcelains in Japan. Among Arita porcelain, "Koransha" and "Gen-emon-kiln," are the star kilns that keep the heritage on 400 years of Arita’s tradition.Koransha was founded as a maker and exporter of Arita porcelain in 1875 by Eizaemon Fukagawa and three partners. After the company was dissolved in 1879, Eizaemon founded Koran, later became Koransha. Since its establishment in 1879, Koransha has participated and won many prices in overseas exhibitions and obtained the distinction of purveyors to the Imperial Household Agency during the Meiji era. Their delicate painting and elegant form is called Koransha Style.The pens are fitted with a 21K large nib acknowledged as comfortable to write with. Cartridge/Converter filled and ink converter is included. Housed in a Paulownia case showing the name of Koransha Kiln and the pen. A bottle of black ink is included in this set.
