The revolutionary construction of the Viking longboat, the magical power of the Runes and the majesty as one of the most characteristic trees of the Nordic world, inspired the design of the Pen of the Year 2017.
Let into the barrel of the platinum-plated variant of the "Pen of the Year 2017" are thin slivers of 'curly'birch, which requires great experience and fingertip precision in its cutting.
A special process has made it possible to cut such thin pieces from this wood.
Which is very delicate on account of its attractive figuring. That takes a degree of skill otherwise found only in the cutting and polishing of gemstones.
The warm colour of the wood, full of nuances, harmonizes wonderfully with the carnelian that is let into the cap and glows an intense red.
The fountain pen which is limited to 500 pieces and is equipped with a 18 karat gold nib that is inscribed by hand. The nib is available in nib width M, F, B and BB. A platinum-plated end cap protects the rotary knob of the plunger mechanism of the plunger-type fountain pen.
